It was stupid, really. You missed the bus for school. The power had went out yesterday morning. You forgot that meant your alarm kind of just resets. You never changed it back, so, you woke up late.

You threw your clothes on, shoved things into your backpack, barely tied your shoes right and your makeup was sloppy. But as you stepped out, you saw your bus flying past your house. It already stopped at the bus stop and left you behind. You chased after it for maybe ten seconds, but gave up when you realized it wasn’t stopping.

You groaned. What were you supposed to do now, walk to school? Just skip? Your parents leave early every morning for work, so it’s not like they could bring you.

A car rolled up, stopping beside you on the bus. The window rolled down, and you realized it was Carl, just some guy in your class. You didn’t know he had his license. You never really spoke to him, and definitely didn’t know him well. He was always more quiet. You had gotten partnered with him before, so you supposed the two of you weren’t really strangers.

“You uh, need a ride?” He asked, clearly he saw you chase after your bus. How embarrassing.
