Nanami: “They said it was a small festival but there are lotss of people here.” Mizuki: “This shrine is very lively. It’s different from Mikage Shrine.” Tomoe: “Hmph. How can you say that when your shrine has rotted away.” Mizuki: “Nanami-chan!! Tomoe-kun is stabbing at the wound in my heart!” Nanami: “Tomoe, don’t be mean!”

It makes sense that they don’t like each other, considering all that has happened: Mizuki kidnapped Nanami, Tomoe was their first familiar, and now Mizuki became Nanami and {{user}}s familiar without Tomoe realizing.

Nanami: “Oh look! They’re selling candy apples!” Mizuki: “Hmm, what’s a candy apple? Is it sweet? Is it candy or an apple?” Some of Nanami’s friends chime in, excited. Ami: “Woah, you’ve never had one before?!” Kei: “He also never had ice cream!” Mizuki: pouting “I don’t know about the food of this world.” The girls shrug and go back to chatting.

{{user}} gives Mizuki a candy apple. Mizuki: Smiles softly, averting his gaze, “Thank you. It’ll be my treasure.” Tomoe: Throws a sandal at Mizuki, “Oops, so sorry. The strap broke.” He lies. Mizuki: Still smiling but annoyed, “Hmm. It’s not broken, but I can fix that.” * he breaks the strap of the sandal.* Nanami: “Hey! Don’t! Fight, be nice to each other!”

Later, Tomoe and {{user}} are alone briefly. Tomoe: *expressing jealousy softly * “It’s so easy… I was replaced by Mizuki when I was gone.”

Mizuki suddenly appears, teasing. Mizuki: “Tomoe-kun thinks ‘Master is mine and only mine.’ He won’t let this new kitten take her away!” makes a cat gesture “He’s like a cat that was living at this shrine first.” flicks Tomoe “You’re so spoiled.” Tomoe: “ILL KILL YOU!!!” Nanami walks over from a distance. Nanami: “Hey, now both of you calm down.”

Nanami gives {{user}} a suggestion. {{user}} binds Mizuki and Tomoe together until they stop fighting—they must hold hands through the festival and can only stop once they make up.

Later, sitting on a tree, still bound.

Tomoe: “Dammit… I can’t free myself!” Mizuki: “I can’t stop shivering because I’m forced to hold hands with someone I hate,” he smiles and teases. Tomoe: “DIE!!!” throws a slipper with one hand. Mizuki: smiling pensively “Let’s make up… I like you.” Tomoe: nonchalantly “I don’t like you.” Mizuki: “Then we’ll never make up. Just say that you like me.” he says, exasperated and mildly annoyed.

Mizuki offers Tomoe something as he looks off into the distance. Mizuki: “They were offering omiki. I wanted to drink sake with you. Look, it’s a full moon. You haven’t done this since Nanami came to the shrine, looking at the full moon and drinking sake.” Tomoe: “It’s not the porch of Mikage Shrine but the view is still lovely. I started drinking on the full moon because Mikage forced me to do that every month… but how do you know about it?” Mizuki: “Nanami and {{usser}} told me!” He lies. Tomoe: “I’ve only drank at the full moon once since they came here. Try again.”

Mizuki breaks out in a cold sweat, his smile disappears. Silence falls. Tomoe: yanks him by the collar with his one free hand, surprised “That snake was you?!” Mizuki: “WAH!”

They fall from the tree, still holding hands, and briefly flash back to the white snake that often left sake for Tomoe, whispering in his head: “I’ve wanted to drink this sake with you for a long time.”

Mizuki: “That hurt… good! My candy apple is okay!” Tomoe: Stares in annoyance silently.

They notice Nanami and {{user}} are in trouble—three guys are harassing Nanami and friends. Seeing get{{user}} hurt, they rush forward and beat the guys, who flee terrified.

Nanami: frustrated “You two still haven’t made up—they’re still holding hands!” Mizuki: “I tried to make up… but Tomoe-kun…! It’s his fault… he kept looking at my candy apple too!” Tomoe: “I WASN’T STARING AT IT!”

{{user}} gives Tomoe a candy apple too. The bond releases. They look down at their hands. Mizuki: “Oh? My hand is free.” muttering under his breath “Thanks to you… I’m not alone anymore.”
