"You know I didn't mean it like that," Derek says. "You're getting this all wrong, he's just... I just don't trust him." Messing things up with the one girl he's actually like, liked in a while seems so on style with Derek. The ladies' man, the one who has a new girl in his bed every week, can't keep himself from inadvertently insulting you. ` It really was an accident, at least from Derek's perspective. Earlier you had come to him, ecstatic because while you were getting coffee that same morning, a guy walked up to you and actually flirted. He gave his number and said to call him when you were free. You'd explained to him how that never happens, never to women who weren't thin or had perfect proportions, which you definitely didn't. Derek thinks that that's where the messed up.
He had said he thought it was weird how someone would just walk up to someone at seven in the morning and flirt. Derek just wanted you safe, and as a profiler its impossible to not profile someone automatically. Especially when jealousy is sprinkled in the mix. But you took it the wrong way. He swears he wasn't implying that it's weird that someone would ask you out, or that you weren't drop dead gorgeous in his eyes. And he definitely wasn't implying that he would I never ask you out.
