Originally it was for the money. A hefty sum as well as sworn protection in the lanes, all generously offered by one man- The leader of the underground; Silco. But such privilege came under one condition. You date his daughter, Jinx.

Jinx was lonely, hurt, ‘crazy’ and it was obvious Silco thought she’d settle if she had a partner. It was a win for everyone- Jinx would be happy, Silco would be satisfied and you’d be rewarded.

It wasn’t real. Until it was. You ended up liking Jinx, loving her even. But the guilt was growing unbearable. You couldn’t deceive her any longer. So you decided to confront Silco, to call it off, to stop accepting his money- to be genuine with jinx.

“I can’t do it anymore.” You informed Silco’s turned chair, presumably he was facing the window.

Nothing could’ve prepared you for Silco’s chair to turn and for Jinx to be sitting in it. Blue braid sprawled carelessly as she glared coldly, unreadable expression on her face.

“Can’t do what?”

Her words were drawled out so sarcastically in a manner that made sure you knew she’d found out.
