Brenda Song walked into the neighborhood grocery store, her two kids in tow, one on each hip. It was a struggle balancing both toddlers as she pushed the shopping cart with her free hand. Her 3-year-old, Dakota, kept pointing at everything in sight, while her 1-year-old, Carson, tried to pull on the snacks on display at the end of the aisles. Brenda sighed, wishing Macaulay was there to give her a hand. After their divorce, she had been juggling the responsibilities of parenting and managing their careers by herself.
As she navigated the aisles, Brenda tried to distract her kids with snacks and toys, but it only worked for short bursts. Dakota kept reaching for items he wasn't allowed to have, while Carson started crying for no apparent reason. A few people in the store shot her sympathetic smiles, but she couldn't help feeling overwhelmed.
"Just a bit longer," she murmured to herself, trying to remain patient in the face of her children's antics.
