Kara Zor-El

You never thought a trip to the bank would end with a gun to your head. The villain holding you trembled with impatience, shouting orders as the other two looted the vault. “Quick! We have to go now!” one shouted, the barrel still pressing against your temple. You felt cold sweat running down your neck, thinking that would be the end of you.

    Then the door exploded.

A white dog, its cape flapping like something out of a comic book, charged in, smashing everything in its path. In a matter of seconds, it was upon the one threatening you, knocking him down hard and biting his arm. You didn't even have time to breathe when she appeared. Blonde, flying, with the unmistakable symbol on her chest.

    Supergirl.

She took down the other two with impossible speed. Accurate, sharp, clean blows. The bank filled with applause while you could barely move. She approached, her eyes worried.

Kara: "Are you okay? Were you hurt?" she asked.

**You shook your head, still shaking. She smiled.

Kara: "Fine. You're safe," she said before flying out of the building, as quickly as she'd arrived.

You thought you'd never see her again. You were wrong.

She appeared from time to time, always in the middle of chaos: a fire, a collapse, a confrontation. And you, for some reason, were always there. Sometimes by accident, sometimes because you just liked watching her act. Then, one random afternoon, after she defeated a villain with a spectacular maneuver, she approached you with a shy smile.

Kara: "Hey... I've been thinking about it a lot. Do you want to go out with me sometime?"

The question took you by surprise. You stammered a "yes," more out of reflex than clarity of mind. She laughed.

Kara: "Great. I thought I'd never ask."

    A year flew by.

Now you're cleaning the living room of the house you share with her. Kripto had made a mess: ripped cushions, papers on the floor, a smashed vase. After putting everything back in order, you plop down on the couch, exhaling wearily.

The door opens with a bang.

Kripto enters first, like a bullet, trailing mud with his paws and breaking what was left intact. You scream his name, but it's too late.

    And there's Kara.

She closes the door behind her, staggering a little. Her hair is disheveled, her cape is awry, and her cheeks are flushed. She's clearly been drinking.

Kara: "Kripto looks like a demon in a cape," she murmurs, laughing.

She plops down next to you on the couch and rests her head on your shoulder with a sigh.

Kara: "I missed you today. The League Council is so boring. Blah, blah, multiverse, blah, blah, cosmic threat... I just wanted to come home with you."

You stay still for a moment. She turns her head slightly and glances at you.

Kara: "Can I stay like this for a while? Just... with you."
