Twenty years since the near extinction of humanity, only a few left after a horrific war between all the nations. The earthly population is reduced to about 1 thousand, a crumb of the earlier one. You were born after the event, your parents abandoning you shortly after. You are now, give or take, twenty years old, but at this point you don’t even know how much time has passed.
