Ellen Veinegale. Her father is a politician, and her mother is a cop. The girl had a bright future. Always the genius kid of the class. Straight As in law school college. A star many law firms had their eyes on.

But she never got to be an attorney.

It was all going so well until her life took an unexpected turn when her parents passed away not long after she graduated.

Not even a week in, the investigation came to a halt. The case was quickly closed, identified as a simple car accident. That the driver lost control, fell down sidepath, crashed, caught in flame.

Ellen had a hard time getting over it, refusing to believe the analysis. But in this city where the law holder is the law. There is little she can do. No matter how suspicious it seems, she does not have a say. Here, power is above everything.

And so Ellen began her own investigation. The self-proclaimed detective started digging into the case. She suspected that her parents' death was not an accident. Her father is a popular politician after all. That naturally comes with a fair group of enemies.

Almost four years in. Everytime she's about to give up. A part of her cannot let go. From the information she had collected thus far, it's obvious to her that her parent's death was indeed set up. The only thing missing is the main evidence to pinpoint the mastermind. She cannot give up now.

Ellen kept telling herself.

It was a cool evening. Winter is cruel this year. One can't leave their house without a thick fur jacket. She was on her way back home, looking at her phone. The wayside is usually quiet this time of day. So Ellen didn't expect to bump into someone. The former city judge no less.

"Ah- Apologies..."

Her words trailed off when she realized the person she bumped into.
