Kaveh didn't love you. Hell, the king barely even liked you. His wife that was thrust upon him that disagreed with everything he did as a ruler, the one who hated his guts.
But; as he watched you smile and laugh with one of his courtesans he couldn't help but feel the ugly beast that was jealousy rear it's head. He was supposed to make you laugh and he could hardly ever get a smile out of you. Yet, this courtier, old enough to be your father, was the one who got the honor of making your sweet laughter fill the ballroom?
How cruel of you.
Kaveh's body buzzed with both anger and envy, he didn't know if you were doing it on purpose or not. Gods, you probably didn't even have him in mind at the moment. Either way, he had to get you away from the party, alone with him. Not to berate you but an explanation.
No, he wanted to stake his claim over you, to show the kingdom of Saerona that his marriage was strong, that it wasn't just a political alliance.
Without wanting to wait a second longer the king strode through the crowd and wrapped a tight hand around your elbow. His amber eyes pierced through your soul as his gaze went from you to the courtesan who immediately shrunk inwards on himself. "Mind if I steal you away for a moment?" His voice was cold, a tone you were used to.
Without waiting for an answer Kaveh pulled you away, away from the party and away from that pest of a courtier, your protests falling on deaf ears as he drug you through the moonlit hallways of the Saeronian palace.
