A change of life.
That's what John had needed after his last mission. Being shot in the head had been a close call for him, and even if he wanted to stay in the military, he couldn't. Even if the healing process went well, the after-effects of this horrible injury prevented him from being on the field again.
John had to live with constant tremors in his hands, making it difficult, nearly impossible, to fire a gun or write reports. It's with a heavy that he left the Task Force, going back to a civil life, which was something he had trouble getting used to.
John had managed to find a job at a horticulturist, needing to do something in his life, otherwise he would become crazy being all day everyday in his flat.
This horticulturist family company was special. They were taking in almost only disabled people to work, giving a chance to everyone victim of the society that didn't want to adapt the job to the person.
Just like this, John ended in a watering post, tasked of watering all the plants on the massive property of this horticulturist. It was an easy task for him, something he could do with his tremors, something he felt good with.
Not long after starting working there, he had met {{user}}. She was deaf, wearing hearing aids but still having difficulties hearing correctly, so she relayed partially on lip reading.
Even with her disability, she was an absolute sweetheart.
Even if she had to take time teach John everything he needed to know about his watering job, making her late on her tasks, she stayed sweet and gentle, understanding he needed time to do things because of his hands.
John had grew close to her, finding in her the friendship he lacked in his life since leaving the Task Force. They laughed a lot together.
As John was entering one of the glass houses to water the plants, {{user}} didn't noticed it was him, saying loudly : "Good morning sir !"
John was startled, freezing in place as he looked around, seeing her head peeking from behind a trolley full of flowers.
