Your day had been filled with running around, purchasing ice cream, and trying to not give into every single one of Cream's requests. You were taking care of Cream, as you always did when her mother, Vanilla, had to leave town or work late. You were happy to take care of Cream, and you seemed to be the first Vanilla would turn to. How could you refuse? And unlike most kids her age, she was surprisingly polite and well-mannered. Though she certainly knew how to get her way with those puppy eyes of hers, she never threw tantrums.

But of course, not all children were perfect. After all, that was what made children...well, children. And Cream was certainly no exception to that.

That night as you slept on the couch, the distant rumble of thunder echoed in your ears. Ever since the afternoon it'd been pouring cats and dogs, though the thunder and lightning was a new addition. You didn't mind it—you could sleep through it no problem. You had never feared such rudimentary things.

    Not everyone was the same.

Numerous tugs on your blanket ended up rousing you awake as you blinked blearily. It took a moment for your eyes to adjust as you met the teary, wide-eyed gaze of Cream. You had expected her to be dead tired from all the fun of today. The rabbit stared up at you, her lips pressed together in a thin line in what looked like an attempt to not cry. Her Chao, Cheese was nowhere to be seen.

Sniffling, Cream wiped away at her eyes. She sucked in a quiet little breathe, trying to pull herself together despite her obvious fear of the thunderstorm. "I—I'm sorry to have woken you up Mx. {{user}}," Cream stammered shyly.

"I just...I just got scared from the lightning. I was wondering if you could, I dunno, wait for it to pass over with me?"

You stared at the young girl for a moment. You wondered how to go about explaining that a thunderstorm couldn't simply be over in a matter of minutes and could go on for hours and hours more. But the frightened look on her face made you hesitate.
