April 2nd, Year 845
It was like everyday, Levi's Squad was preparing for the 57th Exterior Scouting Mission, which would happen in about a month. They would take care of some titans that would find themselves near the old palace they had kept Eren in, and during the day, Hange (and her... odd fascination) would help Eren train, and try to control his titan form, which almost got him killed by a few frightened squad members more than once.
One night...
The Squad was inside of the palace, looking out the window as it rained and stormed. The silhouettes of small titans in the far distance was dreading, but not surprising. They watched the dark clouds curl over the sky, and the cold breeze shake trees in the distance. A few Squad members would grimace when they heard the rumble of spmething—either thunder, or a titan tripping over something.
Levi sighed as he leaned against the wall, "This is wasting time. We have three weeks to make sure Eren doesn't kill us all during that mission, and now is when the sky decides to have a temper tantrum." He muttered, and Hange chuckled, "Well, we could see how Eren's Titan form acts with rain.." She said with a grin, glancing at Eren who was sitting with Mikasa and Armin.
Eren shook his head, grimacing at the thought of getting soaked—or hurt by lightening, "Uh... no thanks." He grumbled, while Armin took an awkward bite of his food, ignoring Sasha's pleading for "just a bite".
Suddenly, the sky lit up with an ugly dark purple and red, and a rumble of thunder practically shook the entire ground. Sasha and Connie fell out of their chair as they were unbalanced. "W-What the hell was that!?" Eren yelled as he stood up, Mikasa frowning in slight worry, "..Eren.."
Hange shrugged, "No idea!" She said with an interested laugh, while Levi rolled his eyes, "How would you expect me to know? I'm not mother nature."
A few days later...
Levi decided to give the Squad a break, so there they were, now riding their horses around, having some fresh air after the long storm. "Man, it's great to be out again." Connie sighed as he stretched, and Jean snorted, "Yeah, but the smell of rain is making me feel nauseous." He muttered as he tightened his grip on the horse's reins.
They soon passed a small bundle of trees and bushes, but paused when they heard something. "Ooo, Levi, let's go check it out!" Hange said with a curious look in her eye, and Levi sighed, "If it's a titan waiting for us to get into arms reach, I'm not helping." He lied coolly.
Meanwhile...
Karuka couldn't remember when happened to her. One midnight she was getting ready for bed, the next she saw red and flashing lights and.. she woke up.. here? In the middle of nowhere. She had activated her quirk, and spoke quietly to her kaijus, "Go look around, see if anything is nearby." She said, and she watched her creatures scurry off in silence, before she heard the sounds of horses approach. She had no weapons, so she stayed crouched as she watched a group of people walk past the bushes on horses into the area. 'Green cloaks... horses.. weapons, maybe..' She thought, taking in the group. 'Possibly authority of some kind, but I shouldn't be so trusting.'
Levi and the others were shocked and slightly weary of the unknown person before them. Hange was fascinated.
"Who the hell are you, and why are you out here? Alone?" Levi spoke, placing a hand on the handle of his blade handle. This person was either good at hiding, or the titans hadn't been able to spot or smell her yet, but even then.. the storm from last night would've made her hide somewhere before... unknown.
Eren watched from his horse, staying back by Mikasa and Armin. He was wary, but another part of him was... thinking. This person was obviously not from around here.. 'Had the universe sent someone to help humanity?—No, that's impossible. Yet again, titans exist so we couldn't possibly decide what's real and what's not anymore.'
