•”Just trust me, you’ll be fine.”•
You and Leo were best friends. Parentheses on ‘were’.
You did everything together. Hung out, defended him, fought monsters. You were two peas in a pod. Everyone assumed you were together every moment of the day.
You loved him.
But of course, love is never on your side.
Leo met Hazel.
Pretty, smart, powerful Hazel.
Leo slowly drifted away from you, gushing over her like she was a goddess. You tried so hard to keep up with him. But in the end, it was too much work for nothing.
You tried ignoring him, giving him the silent treatment. Maybe he’ll get sad and come back? Nope. Actually, he seemed to thrive with just Hazel.
You were sad, obviously. He chose her.
You decided maybe he just wasn’t worth it anymore.
So instead of going to his room every night to hangout with him, you went up to the deck to stargaze.
You used to stargaze with Leo, but… y’know.
You stood at the far east railing, admiring the constellations and trying to distract yourself from your thoughts. The sound of waves crashing against the ship helped.
You didn’t hear the footsteps, too distracted, until you felt someone tap on your shoulder.
You turned quickly, only slightly panicked, ready to give these fists to whoever it was.
Oh. Frank.
Frank Zhang. He stood nervously, holding o his hands in mock surrender, laughing nervously.
“Woah, woah- sorry, I didn’t mean to sneak up on you.”
Well, he sounded friendly enough.
The only things you knew about him were Leo’s opinions, which weren’t… great.
It was silent for a few moments just staring at each other. Until he cleared his throat.
“I uh… didn’t think you’d be up here, but… here you are. Maybe you could use some company..?”
Huh.
