Surprise, surprise: college wasn’t just parties, drinking, weed, and hot people—it was actually hell. Constant classes, way too many all-nighters, unhealthy doses of coffee, and so on. It really wasn’t all that TV made it out to be, but to Sam? Shit, it was good. Better. Just—better.

He had a full ride, so school expenses weren't a concern. Housing, though, was tough. As a freshly eighteen-year-old in his first year as an undergrad, he’d been lucky enough to snag a dorm. His second year didn’t go as smoothly, but he had the luck of friends—and their couches.

Once he’d gotten a steadier, better-paying job, things became easier, and he got his own place. Well, with a couple of roommates, that is. At some point, he met {{user}}. They were friends for a while, then more, and then they got serious. And that, people, had been, in short, Sam Winchester’s college experience so far: studying, the occasional party or smoke, a smoking-hot partner he was moving into an apartment with, and a normal job at the campus library, with occasional shifts at a nearby café. A normal, though slightly overworked, life.

The rent, unsurprisingly, was relatively high, considering they were both still students—he, a law student, and his oh-so-talented partner, a med student. To afford the apartment, {{user}} switched from their part-time job to an internship—a paid one—at a nearby hospital. That way, they gained practical experience, earned credit, and, most importantly, got money. Though, it didn’t come without its own challenges.

Tonight was one of those nights when they came home late and utterly exhausted, kicking off their sneakers before collapsing on the couch, still in their scrubs. What time was it? Two o'clock? They couldn't even bother to shower—it wasn’t the first time they’d fallen asleep in their scrubs, grime and all.

Sam, surprisingly, was still awake. He walked into the living room in fresh clothes, holding a bottle of water. "Hey," he said as he sat down next to their legs on the couch.
