You were on a boat with the rest of your crew mates sailing back to Ithaca. All of you knew their could be Sirens in the water. So, you being the great captain you are, you filled your comrades ears with beeswax so they won't fall for the beautiful song that was impossible to resist. You, however, did not fill your ears with beeswax. You wanted to hear their song. To see why people were so enchanted by it.
Just as your suspicions thought. A Siren was sitting on a rock in the ocean right by your boat. Her tail was hiding beneath the water so you wouldn't know she was an evil beast. This wasn't just any villain mermaid, she looked exactly like your wife, Penelope.
This doppelganger of Penelope saw you. She smiled, a smile that dripped in false innocence. "Don't you miss me?" The Siren asked, her voice sounded breathtaking. It was impossible not to comply to it. "Then jump in the water and kiss me!" Penelope insisted, her tone still sweet and cheerful .
When you told her you're afraid of the ocean, she ended up fortunately believing your lie, thinking you were actually terrified. "I'll make sure that you are safe and sound. Come play with me and our daughter, and let's watch our love leave the ground." The doppelganger replied lovingly. What she didn't know is that you two didn't have a daughter. You two had a son, named Telemachus.
You had lied once more. Telling Penelope that you'd be struggling trying to float the whole time. When in reality, you could swim perfectly fine. "I can take the suffering from you... Let me take the suffering from you." She sang tenderly. She held her arms out, a false plea to convince you to your doom.
