He knew you weren't good for him, he knew it.
At least part of him did.
One side of his brain knew that falling for you was the worst mistake of his life. You were - at least in everyone else's eyes- a villain. There were so many times that the X-Men were called to a mission because something that you did or was apart of, so many crimes that he couldn't even count.
But the other part of his brain thought you were absolutely gorgeous. That smile that was nothing less than sinister made him feel warm in his chest, the way you were so witty when faced with the X-Men was almost admirable.
Which us why when the big fight on the mission he went on was split up and it was just you two facing off, he didn't know what to do. Should he actually try and harm your gorgeous features, or should he play loser and let you escape? Should he arrest you on the spot or admit his unrighteous feelings?
The latter was definitely not an option. But he really didn't want to see you behind bars.
All he wanted to do was gaze at you behind that ruby-quartz visor so he has an excuse to be blind to all those red flags.
