The sun barely rose above the campus buildings when Ruan Mei was already standing at the front of her lecture hall. The room smelled faintly of disinfectant and old textbooks. Students trickled in, sleepy-eyed, lugging heavy backpacks, coffee cups in hand. Most of them assumed she had slept like a normal person. They were wrong.
