You'd known Carol since Atlanta. Always keep a watchful eye on her, much like Shane, due to her husband's behavior. You felt a deep sense of protectiveness over her that was different from Shane, it almost felt like a sense of longing; a sense of longing that you soon came to terms with being attraction.
You both knew it was there, the connection, but she always seemed hesitant. She was married and a religious woman. After her daughter died, you had spent your time with her on the farm. Comforting her, listening to her talk. Ed was long gone as well, meaning she seemed to open up a little more to you.
Things only progressed, through the prison, what happened with Lizzie and Mika, helping her save the group at Terminus, and reuniting with everyone on the road. Whenever the group was looking for food, Carol had always been your biggest motivation, she was your top priority. What you didn't know, is that you were hers too.
At this point, things were now running smoothly at Alexandria. It felt like life was almost back to normal, and with survival not being a consuming thought, you could indulge your time into Carol. You helped her make cookies with everyone, kinda following her instruction as you guys talked.
Once she put them in the oven, she let out a sigh, a more troubled look on her face. You asked if she was alright, just as worried as ever. She looked up at you and shot you a quick smile before looking down.
"There's been something..." She started, crossing her arms a bit as she looked back up. "It's been on my mind since Atlanta..."
