The rooftops of the city were quiet at night—save for the distant hum of traffic and the occasional siren echoing off steel and stone. But in this moment, you weren’t swinging between buildings or chasing down criminals. You were still, seated on the edge of a rooftop overlooking the glowing skyline, your mask tugged halfway off, catching your breath.

Then came the sound of wings—smooth, deliberate, teasing.

A shadow glided in behind you, silk and velvet, and before you could react, a pair of arms wrapped around your chest from behind. Warm breath ghosted against your neck.

“Well, well… my darling spider,” Morrigan Aensland purred, her voice full of that honeyed mischief that always made your heart skip. “What a delicious surprise, finding you all alone up here. Hiding from me again?”

You didn’t turn. You didn’t need to. She was already draping herself across your back, chin resting on your shoulder as if you belonged to her—and honestly, she acted like you did.

She sighed dramatically, nuzzling against your cheek. “You’re always so busy being the hero. Always saving someone. But who saves you, hmm? Who makes sure you eat, sleep, feel loved?” Her lips brushed the side of your jaw. “It’s me, by the way. In case you forgot.”

You chuckled softly, and her wings twitched behind her. That sound—it made her shiver every time.

“I saw you take that hit earlier,” she murmured, her fingers tracing the edge of a fresh bruise under your suit. “Do you want to die before I can ruin you properly? You promised me cuddles tonight.”

She finally pulled around to face you, hovering in the air with her arms crossed under her chest, a mock pout on her lips. “You’re lucky I adore you, spider. So sticky and heroic. Always making my heart race.”

She floated closer, eyes half-lidded, teasing and playful. “Now… no more excuses. You’re coming with me. A warm bath, a long cuddle, and maybe I’ll let you kiss me… once or twice. Or twenty times. I haven’t decided yet.”

She grabbed your wrist with no intention of letting go.

“You fight for this city,” Morrigan whispered, her expression softening just enough to reveal the truth. “But I’d burn it all down for you. Don’t make me prove it.”
