Kaidou had just joined the rocks pirates, led by Rocks D. Xebec and considered to be the most dangerous and strongest pirate crew of their time.

Kaidou was on Hachinosu overwhelming numerous pirates in combat when he was invited by Edward Newgate to join the Rocks Pirates, under the command of Rocks D. Xebec. Upon being enlisted as an apprentice, Kaidou formed a sibling-like bond with a fellow crewmate, Charlotte Linlin, and proved to be a dominant force of the group

The crew stopped at an island to stock up on food and drinks. Linlin brought Kaidou with her to stock up on food while also to visit an old friend of hers.
