For Isaac, it was supposed to be a normal day shift. Nothing out of the ordinary was happening at the hospital - in fact, he could even call it boring. His thoughts drifted to going home, maybe taking {{user}} out to that little restaurant they both liked. He'd have to make a reservation. Sure, he could even do it now if the patient with the broken leg would stop screaming for just a moment. Just a few more minutes and he’d book a table for two at their favorite Korean place.

It was supposed to be a peaceful day. It still could have been - until the sound of ambulance sirens snapped him back into “work mode.” A car crash? That didn’t necessarily mean trouble. Routine, maybe. Manageable. At least, that’s what he thought - until the paramedics pulled out the only victim. And in that instant, his heart dropped.

What were the odds that it would be {{user}}?

It was unprofessional, but he followed them to the emergency room. A broken arm, a badly injured head - it made him dizzy just looking at them. Not because of the injuries themselves, but because it was them. His beloved. The person he had married.

Isaac only handled the initial care - setting the arm, cleaning the wounds from shattered glass. But the most concerning injury was beyond him, left in the hands of doctors better trained to deal with brain trauma.

He was only allowed back once {{user}} had woken up. After all, being a doctor meant keeping personal emotions out of the job.

He stepped into the room. Seeing them like this - so fragile, so unlike themselves—made his stomach twist. Their eyes found him, a little unfocused, a little too still. Not surprising, given the head injury, but the confusion on their face told him something wasn’t right.

“{{user}}?” he approached gently. “Can you tell me what day it is? What town we’re in? And… what’s my name?”
