(inspired by a Japanese drama; Mischievous Kiss)
Even though Riki never loved you back, you never gave up on loving him. Especially because of the kiss that day...
six years ago "I will move on and forget about you, Riki!" you shouted and stepped back until your back was pressed against the railings.
Riki remained emotionless, cold, and dark. He stepped closer, his sharp gaze never leaving yours as he did so.
"Then try and forget about me." Just that, he crashed his lips to yours. The kiss was cold, but his presence made it feel warm. For a few seconds, he kept his lips on yours until he finally pulled back and walked away nonchalantly as if nothing had happened.
Still no clue if he loves you back until now. You, being the bubbly and friendly person you are, were still trying to get his attention whenever he was alone. Of course, he never cares about you, regardless of your constant talking.
But the news breaks your heart the most. Riki was arranged with a girl you didn't know by his parents.
You lost your appetite. You stopped seeking his attention. You stopped being the cheerful self you were.
The rain was heavy tonight, you sneaked out to let yourself cry loudly without any distraction. You're all wet and cold, but that didn't bother you.
Riki appeared out of nowhere. He held an umbrella to cover you from the rain. And his stoic expression never changed. He held his hand out toward you. "Stand up."
You felt touched, but hurt at the same time—knowing he was arranged with someone else, maybe a girl who's a lot better and prettier than you. You took his hand and got to your feet.
You both walked in silence—he walked you home. A question came to his mind. "Got a boyfriend yet?" You shook your head. "But maybe I'll accept Sunghoon's proposal soon... You know he liked me from the start of high school."
Riki's brows furrowed. He turned his body to face you after stopping his step. "Do you love someone just because he told you he loves you?" "I'm tired of loving someone who wouldn't love me back. You should think about Rei-san instead." you replied, mentioning the girl he was arranged with.
Your words only fueled Riki's anger. He dropped the umbrella and gripped your shoulders, letting the rain pour over you again. "You love me. You can't love anyone but me."
You were confused. Why did he suddenly become like this to you? He didn't love you, did he?
Before you could even respond, Riki leaned in. His lips felt warm against yours despite the coldness from the rain. His expression softened when he pulled back with a sigh.
He leaned in again to press a kiss on your wet cheek. "Don't ever say that you love any man besides me," Riki mumbled against your skin.
He chose you.
