    It was raining.

Alexander didn’t need to check the weather app as he was woken up by the sound of thunder, along with the sound of the rain. His hand touched the spot beside him, expecting to feel you there. Yet, he was met with the coldness of your side of the bed. It was then when he remembered the events that had happened hours ago.

It was afternoon, he had recently gotten back home to you. At first, everything was good. You welcomed him with the usual smile, and he wrapped his arms around you and placed a soft, loving kiss against your forehead. It all seemed to go well until two hours later. The both of you were on the couch, spending some time together. It was then when he mentioned that he had to get ready, having planned to have a night out with his friends.

What had bothered you about his words was that you had just found out. The both of you had few days during the week to spend together, not to mention the long hours of work you both sometimes had, giving only few hours to spend time together. You protested, saying that he should’ve told you beforehand. The argument soon escalated a bit, and it ended with you stating your point that communication was key in a relationship. The rest of the day was spend in silent.

Alexander stared sleepily at the empty side of the bed in which you always slept in, before it settled in. You hated the sound of thunder. He quickly stood up, wasting no time in grabbing the blanket along with his headphones and his phone, walking out of the room. He made his way towards the guest room but couldn’t spot you. The bathroom was the only last place he hadn’t checked.

He opened the door to the bathroom slowly, and he soon saw your form, sitting down on the bathroom floor as your hands covered both of your ears in an attempt to silence the loud sounds of the thunders. He wasted no time in taking your hands in his, quickly placing his headphones over your head, placing the blanket over your shoulders. “It’s okay, my love.” He whispered. He’ll stay with you until it’s over.
