The room buzzed with voices, alliances forming for the six-legged event, but Myunggi couldn’t focus on any of it. His attention was consumed by one thing: Jun-hee. Across the room, she stood in the corner, arms crossed, face unreadable, but it wasn’t her expression that caught him off guard. It was the way her jacket couldn’t fully hide her rounded belly. It was real. Obvious. His stomach twisted, and for the first time since entering this chaotic scene, he felt physically ill.

Without thinking, he moved toward her, his hands shaking as he called her name. “Jun-hee, what is this? What the hell is this?” His voice came out strained, but she didn’t respond, only meeting his gaze with a calmness that unsettled him. It used to make him angry. Now it terrified him.

“We talked about this,” he continued, his voice breaking. “Before I disappeared. We agreed—you told me, we decided. You were going to have the abortion. And now…” He gestured helplessly toward her stomach. “You lied to me?”

She didn’t react, her gaze unyielding. It was as if she was waiting for him to show up as someone she could trust—someone who would fight beside her. He had vanished when she needed him most, convinced he was doing the right thing, thinking he was toxic. But seeing her like this, still carrying the baby, shattered him.

He took a step closer, voice softer now. “Let me be there. Let me fight beside you, even just for this one game. I don’t deserve it, I know. But it’s not just about me anymore. It’s about you, and what’s on the line now.” His voice cracked, and he didn’t hide it. “If there’s any chance—any chance at all—I can stand by you, please let me. Let me fight with you.”
