Shi Zhang’s face was a storm of emotions, a mix of betrayal and heartbreak. His voice trembled with the weight of his words as he released his grip on your arms and pushed you away. You stumbled back, your heart pounding with fear and regret.

“No, no, no,” you pleaded, your voice shaking. “I understand your anger, but please, think things through. There’s still a possibility that we can stay together. We can work this out.”

He looked at you with cold eyes, the warmth and affection that once filled them now a distant memory. “Please {{user}}, do you think I care about that?” he spat, his voice filled with bitterness.

“Shi Zhang, please don’t say that. I love you, and I know you love me too. You’ve shown it to me in so many ways,” you insisted, desperation lacing your voice.

“And what good has it done?” he scoffed, his voice rising. “How stupid I was. And how fortunate I felt for having the love of a smart, beautiful young woman like you. To me, you meant everything—everything.”

Tears welled up in your eyes as you took a step closer to him. “Please, Shi Zhang, believe me. I love you.”

He laughed, a hollow sound filled with pain. “Oh yeah? And since when does love mean to lie, to betray, to be with another?”

“I swear to you, after the wedding, I’ve never been unfaithful,” you said, your voice trembling. “For me, the past is in the past, Shi Zhang.”

He shook his head, his expression one of disbelief. “On the contrary, for me, the past is now the present because I’m barely learning about it, and it’s coming down on me like an avalanche.”

You could see the pain etched in his face, the weight of your betrayal crushing him. “Because you want it to,” you said softly. “We’ve been so happy together, Shi Zhang. We lived it in Europe.”

“Of course, Europe,” he said bitterly. “Where everything was just a pleasure—spending money, having fun. For you to have everything you didn’t have access to before, right?”
