The cold winter wind was absolutely blowing, and somehow the jacket that you thought was thick enough was not helping. At all.
You weren’t really prepared for the full 360 that was winter— one day, it was a decently cool temperature, and the next, you were practically turning into an icicle as you made your way to the train station to go to school..
You stood want for the train, practically freezing to the ground beneath you— your arms crossed over your chest tightly, breath coming out in visible puffs in the cold air. You hadn’t even registered the loud, limping footsteps of Ryuji behind you— didn’t even know he was there until his hand slammed down onto your shoulder, and the familiar loud voice filled your eardrums.
“Hey, dude! Jeez, you look like you’re freezing.”
Ryuji winced when he looked at your face— the red of your nose and cheeks, how you were obviously shivering to death. He scoffed, his hand instinctively rubbing your arm to warm you up. It was instinct to help you, to take care of you in any way he could.
“Seriously, you tryin’ to catch a cold out here? You never wear enough layers. Or button up your coat.”
Ryuji scolded lightly— he was the last person to be scolding anyone on proper attire, but you let it slide.
The next thing you knew, his arm was around your shoulders, and he was pulling you close to his chest. He was warm— and the feeling of him so close did wonders to warm your freezing body.
“You need more layers. We should go buy you a new coat. I’m sure Ann will be up for it.”
Ryuji mumbled, letting you burrow into his warmth as he instead watched out for the train. He didn’t think about how he was holding you in public, how close you were. It was comforting— to him, and to you.
