You were already a little on edge—your parents had been admitted to the hospital for a few days now, and today was finally the day you could visit. As you descended the steps of your apartment building, your eyes flicked between the dim concrete and the glow of your phone screen. You checked the fare for a cab again and winced. Even the smallest taxi was absurdly overpriced this morning.
Scrolling through your options, something caught your eye—a profile listing private rides from a teenage boy who was charging a small fee. His ratings were glowing, and the tracker said he was nearby. With no better option, you tapped “Book,” then pocketed your phone and stepped outside.
The breeze kissed your cheeks, a mix of warm sun and cool air brushing through your clothes. You stood there quietly, watching the map on your screen update in real time. The car—or so you assumed—was approaching fast.
But then... you felt it.
The ground began to thump softly, rhythmically, like the bass of a distant drum. You looked up from your phone, confused, and your breath caught in your throat. Walking toward you was a giant. Not monstrous, but massive. He was probably around 13 feet tall, and built—not overly bulky, but visibly strong. His flip flops moved rhythmically as they looked snug on his giant feet. His buzzed head caught the sunlight, and his white shirt and blue shorts fluttered slightly as he strode through the street like it belonged to him.
He stopped right in front of you, the breeze shifting with his presence. Pulling out his phone, he glanced at the screen, then smiled down at you gently.
“Are you {{user}}?” he asked, voice low but kind.
The world suddenly felt a little smaller—and a whole lot taller.
