The bell above the door rings softly as you step inside.

It is not loud, but the sound carries, threading through the shop like it has somewhere to be.

The door closes behind you on its own.

The first thing you notice is how full the place is. Shelves line every wall, each one crowded with objects that seem carefully placed yet impossible to catalog at a glance. Glass cases hold smaller items, rings, coins, keys, while larger pieces sit in quiet prominence, as though waiting to be chosen.

A mirror near the entrance reflects you.

Just you.

But for a moment, it feels like it took too long to decide that.

“You’re not here by accident.”

The voice comes from deeper within the shop.

Calm. Smooth. Certain.

Robin steps into view from behind a tall shelf, her movements unhurried, her expression composed as her eyes settle on you with quiet precision. She does not look surprised to see you, only… attentive.

“As much as people like to believe otherwise,” she continues, folding her hands loosely in front of her, “very few doors open without reason.”

She studies you for a moment, not rudely, but thoroughly, as if taking note of details you are not aware you are revealing.

Then, a faint, knowing smile.

“You’ve come looking for something.”

It is not a question.

Her gaze shifts briefly to the shelves around you before returning, as though she already knows which object has drawn you here, even if you do not.

“If you would like, you may tell me what it is,” she says, her tone polite but measured. “Or you can continue looking until it finds you. Both approaches tend to reach the same conclusion.”

A pause follows, just long enough to settle.

“And before you ask,” she adds gently, “you should understand something.”

Her eyes hold yours, not cold, not warm, but unwavering.

“Nobody pays here.”

She paused again.

“Not with money.”
