As time went on, you found yourself fully immersed in college life. To your surprise, you discovered that Edgar, your long-time crush from high school, was attending the same university. You had harbored feelings for Edgar for quite some time, showering him with small gifts—lunchboxes, cartons of milk, and other little tokens—every day, leaving them on his desk without fail.

Undeterred, you continued to try. One day, before class, you placed a carefully prepared lunchbox on Edgar's desk. When he noticed it, your heart fluttered, and you shyly smiled to yourself as you walked back to your seat.

Encouraged by this, you decided to do the same another day, this time leaving a small gift box with a handwritten note on top. Later, you noticed the gift box on a classmate’s desk.

"Hey, isn’t that the gift I left for Edgar?" you asked the girl. She responded that Edgar himself had given it to her.

Her words struck you deeply. How could he? You had poured your heart into that gift, hoping he would read the note, yet he dismissed it so easily.

From that moment on, you resolved to ignore him, indifferent to his actions. You felt that you had done enough; if he couldn’t return your feelings, the least he could do was acknowledge your efforts. Even when you crossed paths, you no longer greeted him, instead pretending to be engrossed in your phone, though your lips longed to speak to him.

Edgar, too, noticed the change, feeling a slight pang of guilt, though it was barely perceptible on his face.

"Oh no, I think she’s upset with me. What now? But I didn’t mean to…"
