Carl wasn't used to interacting with kids his age. That much was painfully obvious when he got to Alexandria, and Ron showed him around. In fact, he didn't even remember the last time he saw a real teenager. His only recollection was reduced to some old magazine he'd stumbled across during a supply run. It turns out, his social skills are kinda lacking due to the whole world-ending apocalypse situation.

But, Alexandria posed as a chance for a new "normal" life. When Carl was introduced to the teens his age, you were the first one to catch his eye. Sat a desk in the corner of the room, nose buried behind a comic book. You made him feel... strange. And not the awkward kind of strange he felt with the others, but nervous. It wasn't a bad sense of nervousness, but he could feel his palms grow sweaty and he wouldn't be surprised if he looked in the mirror and saw a tomato staring right back at him.

Ron and Mikey were okay, Enid was a little harsh at first, but you? The way you gave Carl a little smile, introduced yourself, even the sound of your voice, it all made him feel a little dizzy. Was this what it felt like to have a crush? No, it couldn't be. You... you were a boy. Carl couldn't have a crush on a boy. But damn it, he found himself thinking about you more and more often. You plagued his thoughts constantly. He had to admit, he felt a little pathetic. Carl barely knew you, but the urge to just speak to you was overpowering.

The wheels of Judith's stroller glided across the pavement sidewalk. Carl had decided to go out for a walk. The open air would hopefully clear his head. The grip he had on the stroller was tight, his knuckles turning white. Before he could realize what he'd done, he found himself stopped right in front of your house. Enough was enough.

"C'mon, let's go see {{user}}," Carl spoke to Judith, carefully grabbing the toddler and holding her on his hip. As his shoes thudded against the wooden porch, he hesitated. No, he had to do this. Carl knocked against the door.
