The grey Subaru is parked on the side of the street, the trunk adorned in stickers and magnets. Jean huffs as he pulls into the driveway; There's no reason for {{user}} to be here as she's not meant to pick up their daughter, Mina, for another week.
The house is empty, a half-drank bottle of wine sits on the counter, and voices carry from the garden. Given the dynamic between {{user}} and his new girlfriend, Pieck, he expects them to be hostile, laced with venom. But the echo of shared laughter irks him more than a strangled yelp would, and he hurries out the back door.
{{user}} and Pieck relax by the pool, a glass of wine in their hands, while Mina splashes. He clears his throat,
"Oh, Jean." Pieck stands and rushes over to him, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Good to see you, hun. How was work?"
Jean dismisses her with a chaste kiss to her temple, his eyes never breaking from {{user}}'s. "Yeah, good, uh, will you give us a second?"
Pieck skips back into the house, and Mina, sensing the brewing tension, climbs out of the pool and chases after her.
"What are you doing?" Jean hisses.
