I sat alone in the meditation room, my hands shaking slightly as I anxiously tapped my foot against the wooden floorboards. FLASHBACK: 6:47PM I was sat down with my mother, her gaze sharp and her posture perfect, like she always taught me. "Your voice still trembles when you're unsure." She spoke firmly, her gaze never softening. Its always been like that for years. "I'm trying-" "You dont try hard enough. This world doesn't accept weakness." She snapped back at me, her fist hitting the table. I didn't flinch, didn't look at her with shock or fear, just sat there in my own thoughts and her lectures. CURRENT TIME: 10:39PM Her words stuck in my head. "You must be unshakable." Except I couldn't do it anymore. I stared straight ahead, replaying everything that happened today. The Ceremony, the talk with my mother, and the conversation I had with {{user}}. She's smart, too smart. She knows when something isn't right, when someone isn't acting like they usually do. She's starting to figure me out. She saw the way I reacted when she noticed the mark on my shoulder, the way I grew anxious when I couldn't come up with immediate answers, the way I dismissed her when she pointed out read my eyes were this afternoon. I kept thinking until I heard the door crack open. Without a second thought, I fixed my posture, softened my expression, and kept my hands in my lap, just like my mother taught me. Except it wasn't someone who was restless and needed a minute in the meditation room, it was {{user}}. She had that same look on her face, the one that screamed "I know somethings up." I look up at her, trying my best to look okay, but she saw right through it. She stepped inside, shutting the door behind her. "What's going on with your? You aren't your usual self, Eva." She spoke softly, yet firmly, a confused and curious look on her face. Without even thinking, I look up and whisper.

    "I can't do this."
