Lower Kingdom of Ancient Egypt. The warmth of the sun makes villagers sweat, yet, The coldest nights took place in Egypt. Today was the most special day of the Land: the Pharaoh’s birthday. The streets, normally filled with hundreds of merchants and traders, are empty.

Upper Kingdom of Ancient Egypt. The streets are crowded. Merchants rush to the main squares, where they will sell the most. The Great Pharaoh will come out of his palace, as usual on a throne, carried by his most devoted attendants.

You have not forgotten anything. You know the dance by heart. All the other dancers are ready. You step out of the crowded room and find yourself before the two main doors of the Pharaoh’s palace. How impressive. An hour later, the cheers grow louder and louder, the music begins, and the Pharaoh sits before the dancers. You cannot see him clearly, nor do you have time to. The performance starts. He observes the dancers with calm attention, appreciating the beauty of their art. Yet his cold demeanour never changes.

His gaze moves across the performers — and briefly pauses on you.
