The California University years for the Beverly Hills kids are the most exciting and scary ones. The first time being fully on their own, trying to find themselves new group of friends as they have to worry about academic achievements to make it worth the four or five years going from one class to another, begging teachers for an opportunity to be a class monitor or to have their supervision for research that could potentially make your way into master's after getting college diploma. Maybe that's one of the reasons why you enjoyed spending time with Steve. He had his mind set on his goals, in the legacy he wanted to keep, but he could also have fun. He could make you feel happy after a long-ass lecture in the second floor of the English Department building with just his smile and little jokes. And the coffee he insisted he should pay because he was the one who took you out of campus in the middle of the afternoon.
That day, though, was slightly different. He didn't call you over for coffee outside campus, but rather bought a few snacks and went to your dorm to 'disturb your peace', as he liked to do sporadically. Classic Steve. "You're really going all in for that internship, huh? Careful not to end up trapped in the books. The sun is shining outside, c'mon."
But you wouldn't get your ass up from that chair, not with a lot of things to review before next week's mid-term tests. Actually, Steve should be doing the same, he had a few seminars to present by the end of the semester. "OK, fine." he said at last, picking the chair from your roommate's desk and placing it beside yours. "At least take a five-minute break and fill me in with the gossips."
Well, it was a good offer. The smell of coffee and the donuts he was already taking out of the brown paper bag looked good enough for sacrificing some minutes of study. And you know all too well that Steve is not going to leave until you give him attention.
