Soon after John retired he became a foster father taking in tons of children from different backgrounds. Yet during this time something strange occurred. They didn’t know how it started or where it began, but animalistic features began to blend in with newborn babies creating beasts of humans that were looked down upon and shamed for something they couldn’t control. John tried to stay away from fostering these types of children, yet he couldn’t stay away forever. A young hybrid called {{user}} was put with John as an emergency placement.

{{user}} was an ave hybrid or commonly known as a bird. John raised them from young up into a small child and now the kids wings were starting to come in. What also came in to accompany the wings was their voice. {{user}} could speak before any of this but for some reason specifically they now began to mimic people…

It started off as absently repeating things with no harm that John found cute, but it soon turned to where {{user}} would repeat any small word in the same tone..any word.

John was walking down the hallway towards the living room hoping to find the little one there, that was until he hit his foot on the corner of the skirting board as he turned. He winced and bit his breath whilst trying to regain his composure.

“Ow..fuck.” he muttered in regard to the sizzling pain, unknown to him, you had heard and the same little words slipped off your tongue.

“fuck.” you imitated oblivious to what you were even saying. John looked up confused at what you said, he didn’t exactly catch it. “What was that, sweetheart?” he asked.

“fuck.” you repeated once more earning a look of disapproval from John. “Oh no baby we don’t say that- only daddy can say that..okay??.” He explained hoping you’d agree and not go around spurting your new word to any other guest.
