That charming smile couldn’t hide anything from you. You knew what he was. A murderer and a cannibal. Everyone else couldn’t see through the facade.

But you didn’t say anything. He fascinated you. Even though his actions were horrible. He was a monster. To everyone else at least

You listened to his broadcast, nodded along to the music he played for crowds at events, and watched him interact with the guests. But a drunk pompous man spilled some of his red wine on the white sleeve of Alastor’s outfit.

Your heart raced. You knew his smile was stretched now, twitching as it tried to keep itself up. But if he got that man alone, there’d be a missing person’s report in the paper next morning.

You quickly walked over and began wiping off his sleeve with carefulness. You apologized for the man’s rudeness and disregard for others in his drunken state.

Alastor didn’t expect this. He was used to kindness from everyone but to receive an act of service? That was new to him. His smile turned genuine once again.

“Thank you, my dear..” he said in a soft, sweet tone.
