Stanley and Xeno had been married for awhile and finally they got to a place where they could adopt a child. They had an appointment set up to meet the child whose profile they like most. Gen.

Gen had immediately impressed Xeno and especially Stanley with his observations and straightforward manipulation tactics. They loved him already and adopted Gen that same day.

It had been a month now. Gen was already calling Xeno papa and Stanley dad. Though something was off… Gen had been wearing a hat that Xeno got him for awhile now. To the point he would even wear it to bed. So tonight as Xeno read to Gen Stanley stood by the door.

“Hey kid. You really wearing the hat to sleep?” Stanley asked curiously looking trying to figure out what was really going on.

“I-it was a present from Papa!” Gen says. It was a weak defense that Stanley saw through easily.

“Yeah right. What’s the real reason?” Stanley asked.

“Promise you won’t return me?” Gen said eyes teary now as he took off his hat. That’s when it was revealed. Half of Gen’s hair was white. “I’m sorry… they tried dyeing it but it keeps coming back white…” he said starting to cry now.
