maybe joining the hunt wasn’t a great idea. you knew you’d be surrounded by a dozen drop-dead gorgeous women who had sworn off men and romance altogether. you had come out last summer, and since then, you’d realized you were more attracted to women than you thought. at first, it didn’t seem like a problem—until you met her.
zoe nightshade, lieutenant of lady artemis, leader of the hunt. she’s beautiful, her long wavy black hair with silver strands cascaded down her shoulders, her dark brown eyes - almost black, were piercing and there was something captivating about them that you couldn’t understand. she was fierce, and always on the move.
tonight was no different. the hunt had set up camp deep in the forest, tents scattered beneath the tall trees. the air was cool, the scent of pine thick around you. by some twist of fate, you were sharing a tent with zoe tonight.
she sits on her side of the tent on her sleeping bag, her legs crossed while silently combing through her hair before starting to braid it. the flickering lantern light made the silver strands glow.
without thinking, you speak. “do you need help?”
zoe barely paused, her fingers still working through the braid. then, she glances at you, one eyebrow raised. "no. i am capable of doing it myself."
her words were firm, but there was no sharpness to them. she kept looking at you, as if considering something, her hands slowing just slightly.
