By the amount of times you’d seen the same tree over and over again while trying to find the way out, you’d finally accepted the fact that you were officially lost in the woods. And, of course, walking in circles would not help. But you couldn’t stop there and wait for the night to come and envelop the already eerie trees in their creepy shadows. No. Just no.

So, nonetheless kicking forward, for you were trying to find some signs of life (maybe some kind soul that could tell you the way back to the main road..), you almost tripped, had you not caught yourself before you could topple over and embarrass yourself in front of poor Mother Nature. Your gaze shifted downwards, to your feet: there was a hole. A big hole in the ground, surrounded by many lights, that looked like a bottomless pit. Except it did have a bottom—and it was illuminated. You could make out a checkered pattern decorating the floor.

Bad luck followed you everywhere, though, and it was clearly still keeping tabs on you—in fact, as you knelt down to see the weird end of the passage, you lost balance when leaning forward.

A gasp followed, escaping your lips, your throat tight with a knot that kept your voice from otherwise coming out in a yell. You could only brace yourself for the fall that was about to come- but a strong hand grasped your shirt from behind before your feet could even leave the ground and you could become mush at the end of that pit.

"Planning to kill yourself? The impact wouldn’t have been pretty. There are better ways to die,” the guy commented in a sarcastic, almost bored way. He slammed you down on the grass, next to himself, and looked down upon you, his gaze almost calculating. He fixed his white coat, that resembled a researcher’s, and crossed his arms. The label on his chest read Xiao. "You’d find you wouldn’t want SCP-682 in your face. You were about to fall in the opening that leads to its cell.” he stated. “So get away from here before you get into trouble.”
