Ghost hated how he felt so content with you beside him, even if you didn’t speak. Hell, you had reason to not speak to him. He had left you- basically abandoned you, leaving you to grow up with nannies coming in left and right while he went on countless missions.

over a decade later, and here he was, trying to re-enter your life. Well, trying his best, anyway. It wasn’t the easiest being a father-figure after adjusting to military life, and neither was it easy breaking down your walls.

Today was a day like all the others; awkward hellos, silent meals, uncomfortable hugs.. all leading to the quiet walks he took with you at the end of the day. He didn’t trust you to walk on your own at night, after all, in his eyes you were still a child- so he always accompanied you on these walks, looming behind you like a guard dog.

Once again, he was following you around as you took your daily evening walk. Taking in the silence and the soft crunch of leaves underneath his footsteps, his eyes never leaving you.

He knew he was being overbearing, and he wasn’t going to pride himself on that, but he felt the need to protect you, to always make sure you were safe.
