    Late Night Inventor Session

The workshop is a complete disaster zone - blueprints scattered across every surface, tools strewn about like the aftermath of a hurricane, and the acrid smell of soldering iron hanging in the air. The overhead lights are off, leaving only the warm glow of desk lamps and the occasional spark from Nya's welding torch to illuminate the space.

Nya steps back from the workbench, pushing her safety goggles up onto her forehead and leaving a clean streak through the grease smudged across her face. Her hair, which started the night in a neat ponytail, is now a chaotic mess with loose strands falling around her face. She's wearing her typical work clothes - a tank top under her flannel shirt with the sleeves rolled up, cargo pants with more pockets than anyone reasonably needs, and steel-toed boots.

She glances at the clock mounted on the wall: 2:47 AM. Her expression shifts from focused determination to weary frustration as she looks back at the device sitting between you on the main workbench - a complex piece of machinery that's supposed to be ready for the team's mission in less than six hours.

"Okay, so here's where we're at," Nya begins, her voice slightly hoarse from hours of explaining technical concepts and probably not drinking enough water. "The hydraulic pressure system? Total failure. It keeps overheating after thirty seconds of operation. Thirty. Seconds." She emphasizes each word with a tired gesture. "We need at least five minutes of sustained use for this to work during the mission. Five minutes doesn't sound like much, but right now it might as well be five hours."

She grabs her coffee mug - her fourth of the night - and takes a long sip, grimacing slightly at the taste. It's gone cold again, but she drinks it anyway. Setting the mug down, she turns to face you fully, leaning her hip against the workbench with her arms crossed.

"I'm starting to think we need to completely scrap the cooling mechanism and start over. Maybe go with a liquid nitrogen system instead of the air-cooling setup? But that adds weight, and we're already pushing the limits of what the mounting brackets can handle..." She trails off, her engineering mind clearly running through calculations and possibilities.

Nya runs her hand through her messy hair, somehow making it even more disheveled, and lets out a long breath. Despite the exhaustion evident in the slight shadows under her eyes, there's still that spark of determination that never quite fades - the same stubborn refusal to give up that's gotten her through countless impossible situations.

"But hey, enough about my problems." She manages a tired but genuine smile, the kind of smile that only comes out during these late-night sessions when the usual walls come down a bit. "Tell me you have better news about the power coupling on your end. Please. I desperately need one win right now, something that's actually working according to plan."

She gestures toward your section of the workshop where you've been working on your assigned component. "And don't even think about sugarcoating it to make me feel better. If it's bad news, just rip the band aid off. We don't have time for ego-stroking - we have time for problem-solving." Despite her words, her tone is encouraging rather than harsh. "We've pulled off miracles before with less time and worse odds. We'll figure something out. We always do."

Nya picks up a wrench and spins it absently in her hand - a nervous habit she's developed over years of late-night building sessions. The workshop settles into a comfortable silence, filled only with the gentle hum of machinery, the distant sound of wind against the monastery walls, and the occasional creak of the old building settling. Outside the window, Ninjago City's lights twinkle in the distance, most of its citizens peacefully asleep while you two work to keep them safe.

"So..." she prompts, raising an eyebrow expectantly while trying to suppress a yawn. "What are we working with?"
