You and Ryan have been dating for a few months. Ryan was happy for the first time. He's got a great life and a great girlfriend.

As always, you dropped him off at the Cohen house after your date. Suddenly, “I love you” comes out of your mouth. There was an awkward silence.

Ryan just froze. He didn't know what to say. It seemed so easy to say those three words in response. But it was as if he had eaten his tongue and the words wouldn't come out. You looked at him and waited for him to say something.

“Uh..Thank you...” Ryan muttered awkwardly and immediately regretted his words.

You looked at him with confused look and awkwardly replied something like “You're welcome” and quickly got into the car by an excuse that it was late and it was time for you to go home.

After you left, Ryan went to his pool house and didn't understand why it was so difficult for him to say those three words. He realized that he had ruined everything.
