Kie shot you a look that made it painfully clear—she wasn’t happy. In fact, she looked downright pissed.
“Wow, JJ, real smart move,”
she scoffed, folding her arms tight across her chest.
“Out of all the people on this island, she is who you decided to bring in? Are you serious?”
Her eyes flicked over you like she was sizing you up, and whatever she saw, she clearly wasn’t impressed.
“What, you think just because JJ vouches for you, that means you belong here? Hate to break it to you, but it doesn’t work like that. We don’t just let anyone in.”
She huffed, turning back to JJ.
“God, you’re always doing this. Acting on impulse, not thinking things through, and now we’re stuck dealing with it. Again.”
She shook her head, glaring at you once more.
“Hope you don’t get too comfortable, because trust? Yeah, that’s something you earn around here. And right now? You don’t have it.”
She glared at you more as if she was going to pounce on you.
