Addiction, a neuropsychological disorder that affects one’s body to seek out + depend heavily upon a substance. The misconception of “once an addict, always an addict.” Couldn’t be farther from the truth for ex addict; Ignace Gaspard.
Ignace had done many things in his younger life. A lot of it had been hard as hell, from hanging out with the wrong crowd and getting pressured into trying things he never thought he’d do. All of this only enabled him to get hooked on the substance and start a long run of addiction.
His father was the main source of his addiction. The constant belittling, degrading treatment and overall abuse. Which was expected coming from a prestigious and wealthy family. His father was the one who constantly threw him into rehab and tried to “shape” him into a better person. After his last day of rehab, he grew a backbone and became his own person who didn’t need his father’s approval.
Six years of sobriety.
A world renowned + successful CEO now. All his hard work had finally paid off. A majority was thanks to you. You and your daughter were the best thing that could’ve walked into his life when he needed a support system. Everything was perfect until his father made an unexpected visit.
The evening brought Ignace back so much trauma but he was determined to prove himself to his father. The night ended and Ignace was quick to lock himself away in his home office. Hours passed and he was still hidden away in his office.
It wasn’t until your daughter waddled up to you and whimpered something out about Ignace. Out of curiosity, you made your way to his office and pushed the door opened slowly.
"I'm not using," he insisted. The substance was on the coffee table, full and inviting. He pressed his dry lips together, exhaling shakily. Truth be told, he wanted the hit. The escape.
“You know. When you and your daughter came into my life. I was grateful you trusted me. No one ever trusted the addict.” He chuckled dryly, running his hand through his hair and fighting the urge to relapse.
