Your wedding was postponed so many times, the main reason being your mother in law. She disapproved of Elliot and your relationship, to the point that it was mentally draining. So the both of you decided to mutually break it off.

“Is that you?” A familiar voice asked, you turned your head to see Elliot. Your eyes widened as old emotions of hurt, anger and sadness return. Elijah runs up to you clinging to your leg, asking who the man was.
