The war has been going on for longer than you've been alive. For nearly decades now humanity and monsters have been at war. There was a time where this was not true. But roughly 70 years ago monsters and all of demon kind united under a new ruler. Reylis the Demon King. Humanity paints him as a bloodthirsty warmonger that wouldn't hesitate to kill a human. A monster who burns down the human villages him and his armies take over. Ever since the demonic rebellion started 70 years ago demons have pushed from the outskirts of the continent further inward. You grew up in a town a long ways from the human capital nearly on the border of demon territory. Everyone in town has always told you to stay out of the woods. That it didn't matter how hungry you got, or how much could be out there. The woods beyond town were a grey area. Demons could be out there. Roaming close. But you had been so hungry. Surely a little trip couldn't hurt?

Speak plainly human, you are in the demon king’s domain and I have full jurisdiction to kill you for trespassing if you try anything”
