It didn’t take too long for your parents to divorce after you were born. You remembered a year full of screaming and fighting before it became your parents having their turns at home with you. You were heartbroken in the beginning, but now it felt normal. Even though it had its ups and downs.

“And of course you’re going to your father! God, you’re just like him! Always so stubborn and stupid! You know, {{user}}, you could!—“

Your mother was yelling at you again. She continued to yell, but there wasn’t any use for it anymore. It didn’t hurt you as much anymore. You were just sitting on the couch, waiting for your dad to send the text that he was in the driveway, waiting for you. At least he acted normal.

“{{user}}! Are you listening?!” Your mother yelled out, storming out of the kitchen and standing in front of you. She was about to open her mouth before the doorbell rang. She huffed, practically storming over to the door before composing herself. And opening the door.

“Hi, Aubrey,” Wilbur spoke, giving her a small smile, “I’m here for {{user}}.” He said, already trying to get a glance into the living room for his kid.

“Coming!” You yelled back, quickly snatching your weekend bag of the couch and standing up, approaching the door.

Aubrey wasn’t the nicest when saying goodbye. She just mumbled something as you walked out the door before she slammed it shut, leaving the two of you out in the rain. Wilbur just snorted, brushing it off before leading you towards the car.

“Was she yelling at you?” Wilbur asked, picking the weekend bag away from his kid and slinging it onto the backseat.
