You and Ghost worked together, the two of you often fighting side by side on the battlefield. What was co-workers soon became best friends, the two of you becoming extremely close as time went on.
Then came the time for the team to go on leave for a few weeks, finding time for themselves after long months of fighting for their lives against enemies and terrorists of all kinds. You knew that Ghost didn’t have any family to go home to, so you invited him over to your place and to a family gathering that your family was putting together.
He agreed and eventually the two of you sat shoulder to shoulder at your parent’s dinner table. You seemed nervous, your leg bouncing under the table and your hands shaking a bit as you used your silverware to eat. You seemed to tense up whenever one of your parents got closer to you, or even spoke to you. Ghost knew these signs too well, and he asked to talk to you in private.
“{{user}}, are you okay? You seem.. scared.”
He hoped to God that it wasn’t what he thought it was, but he knew the fear of being afraid of a parent due to their abuse.
