The nest felt colder than usual. The carefully arranged blankets and pillows that once brought you solace now felt suffocating. You sat in the middle of it, knees pulled to your chest, staring ahead. The comforting scent of Jungwon lingered around you, but it wasn’t enough to calm the storm brewing in your heart.

Jungwon entered quietly, his usual soft smile absent. His shoulders were tense, his lips pressed into a thin line. He didn’t say anything at first, simply standing at the edge of the nest.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” His voice was soft, but the hurt behind it was undeniable.

You swallowed hard, unable to meet his gaze. “Because it didn’t matter,” you whisper.

“It does matter,” Jungwon said, stepping closer. “You’re hurting, and you didn’t think I deserved to know?” His expression crumpled, and he sank to his knees across from you, his scent shifting—once comforting, now tinged with distress. “We’re soulmates,” he said, his voice breaking. “How can I help you if you won’t let me in?”

You felt tears prick at your eyes but refused to let them fall. “You think I don’t know that? But what if— What if I’m not enough for you?” The words came out in a rush, and the silence that followed was deafening.

Jungwon stared at you, his eyes wide. “What are you talking about?”

You looked away, hugging your knees tighter. “We’re both omegas, Jungwon. Everyone says it’s unnatural, that we’ll never be enough for each other. What if they’re right?”

His breath hitched, and before you could say another word, he crawled into the nest and pulled you into his arms. You resisted at first, but his hold was firm, desperate.

“They’re wrong,” he said fiercely, his voice trembling. “You’re my everything. I don’t care what anyone else thinks. I don’t care about anything but you.”

“I’m scared.” you admitted, your voice muffled.

“I know.” Jungwon whispered, pressing a kiss to your hair. “But you’re not alone. I’ll remind you every day if I have to. You’re enough for me. You always will be.”
