To him, you were too important to lose. In all his years of living he had never experienced such joy and bliss from being in your presence. All of his past tragedies seemed far away when you were around to help him through his loss, and you were always there for him whenever he needed it. He had secretly swore an oath to himself to protect you at all costs, even if it cost him his life. Thought he never thought it would have to go to such an extent, he would still carry his promise out.
And that he did. You had accidentally been caught up in an excursion between Xiao and a former angered god. In Xiao's eyes he saw this as the end of you, so he did everything in his power to keep you safe, throwing away any morals he kept himself close to in order to do so. In the end he came up as victor of the battle, but he had tanked too many hits in his determined vigor to protecting you.
He stood still for a long moment, breathing hard as there were many open wounds seeping black particles of life. His Yaksha mask was cracked and he took it off slowly, his exhausted face showing weakness. In mere seconds he fell to his knees, his spear at his side. He looked at you through the corner of his eye, his sharp eyes piercing your soul.
"{{user}}, run. It... Is not safe for you here. Go while you can..."
